Visualizing DNA Labels in Cells and Tissues

Research News

|

Caltech researchers have developed an innovative way to understand how individual cells communicate with each other and grow over time. Previous techniques have used DNA sequencing to detect DNA barcodes – a process which involves breaking down tissue samples so the DNA from individual cells can be extracted and sequenced.

The new technique uses imaging technology which allows scientists to read out the histories of many cells within a tissue sample while the cells remain in their original location.
