FENS is delighted to announce the launch of the new FENS-Chen Institute NeuroLéman Summer School Series on Brain Dynamics in Health and Disease. In collaboration with the Tianqiao and Chrissy Chen Institute (TCCI) and the NeuroLéman Network, this new Summer School series will explore cutting-edge technologies for basic and clinical neuroscience, in order to develop novel concepts and new research techniques to address the challenges of investigating brain function and dysfunction.

Co-chaired by Carl Petersen and Brian McCabe, the first FENS-Chen Institute NeuroLéman Summer School on “Motor control: from thought to action” will focus on integrating technology in fundamental and clinical neuroscience and understanding how the brain organises and controls motor function. This school will take place on 2-8 July 2023 at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), Lausanne, Switzerland. Teaching faculty include: Silvia Arber, Daniel Huber, Ariel Levine, Mackenzie Mathis, Brian McCabe, Carl Petersen, Pavan Ramdya, Cristin Welle and Claire Wyart.

Students who are accepted will also be eligible to apply for a Chen Science Writer Award. The selected student(s) will have their registration fee to participate in the Summer School waived and will receive an honorarium of CHF 500 after submitting a summary report after the school.

With the mission to support education and training of early-career neuroscientists in mind, FENS is proud to incorporate this new initiative into the FENS Schools programme. Together with the FENS-Hertie Winter School, which is developed in collaboration with the Hertie Foundation, the FENS schools programme aims to provide participants with a broad perspective on a dedicated field in neuroscience while creating a unique environment that allows the exchange of ideas, techniques and networking with peers and top neuroscientists.
