AI’s Power in Everyday-World Neuroscience

The fourth edition of the Neuroscience of the Everyday World (N.E.W.) Conference will focus on how artificial intelligence is reshaping neuroscience when data come from the real world rather than the controlled laboratory.

Join us on Conference Day 1 for presentations that showcase digital sensing ecosystems for longitudinal brain health prediction, and research that uses naturalistic stimuli to benchmark modern AI models for capturing human cognition. Day 1 will also include a neurotechnology panel featuring industry experts and oral presentations from selected abstract submissions.

Day 2 of the conference turns to clinical translation, addressing the challenges of deploying AI-driven prediction at scale in diverse health settings— from handling messy longitudinal data to building reliable, personalized clinical tools. Both dates are set to include poster presentations and networking opportunities.

Join the N.E.W. Conference email list to stay informed about updates, including when registration opens.

Abstract Submission

Conference attendees are invited to submit a one-page abstract for consideration using the following template

Accepted abstracts will be presented in-person during the conference poster sessions, providing attendees with the opportunity to share and discuss their research. A select number of outstanding abstract submissions will be chosen by the program committee for short talks during the conference.

Submission Deadline:  11:59pm ET on Friday, July 31st, 2026

Travel Support

Trainees* who submit an abstract are eligible to apply for a Travel Award of up to $1,000 to help cover travel and lodging costs associated with attending the conference. A limited number of awards will be available.

Awards may be applied toward economy/coach airfare and hotel accommodations. Expenses for local transportation, luggage, conference fee, and personal meals are not eligible for reimbursement. In limited circumstances, travel by train (Amtrak) or bus (e.g., Greyhound) may be permitted as a substitute.

Additional award limitations and reimbursement policies will be shared directly with confirmed recipients by the Center for Brain Recovery Finance Division at cbrfinance@bu.edu. Please check your spam folder and ensure that emails from this address can be received.

To be considered, applicants must respond “Yes” to the Trainee Travel Award question when submitting their abstract. In addition, the applicant’s mentor should send a brief email (no more than 100 words) to newconf@bu.edu confirming the trainee’s status and briefly addressing both:

  • the relevance of the conference to the trainee, and

  • the relevance of the trainee’s abstract submission to the conference.
