Careers at the Chen Institute

The Tianqiao and Chrissy Chen Institute was established in 2016 with the mission to promote holistic brain research focused on three areas—brain discovery, treatment, and development. We partner with world-leading universities and research institutions to uncover the mysteries of the human brain and how informational input translates into behavioral output. We are looking for passionate individuals to join our founders in the quest to improve the human experience through uncovering the mysteries of the human brain.

Program Director

Main Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of Chen Institute initiatives and communications with its beneficiary organizations/individuals
  • Create, administer and oversee support programs for young scientists, including but not limited to fellowships, investigator programs and grants  
  • Research and review funding proposals and fellowship applications, and present recommendations to management  
  • Monitor and analyze programmatic progress to determine whether each Chen Institute initiative has achieved the stated outcomes
  • Build a network of scientists, faculty members and academic thought leaders who are potential candidates or advisors to the Institute initiatives
  • Promote and market the Institute branding initiatives with the PR team

 Academic Qualifications and Experience:

  • Ph.D. in neuroscience or related areas from a top tier U.S. university
  • Ideally some experience with a foundation or nonprofit organization

 

Desired Skillsets:

  • Ability to effectively plan, implement and follow through on a wide range of simultaneously occurring projects
  • Ability to source and build strong, authentic relationships with scientists and partner organizations
  • Passionate and creative entrepreneurial spirit to create and manage research funding initiatives and fellowship programs
  • Highly collaborative individual who enjoys a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written skills in communicating with scientists, and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-domain experts
  • Strong commitment to personal growth and a willingness to be impacted by their work
